DC Comics Suggests A Court Of Owls Year For 2023 (Spoilers)

The Court Of Owls is popping up in WildCATS and Batman Urban Legends in a way that suggests much more is to come through 2023.

Not only did the Court Of Owls feature prominently in the Spawn/Batman crossover before Christmas, courtesy of Greg Capullo and Todd McFarlane, but this week they are all over the DC Universe. An organization of the wealthiest and most influential citizens of Gotham, founded alongside the city but unknown by its population aside from urban legends, they make an appearance in this week's WildCATS #3 by Matthew Rosenberg and Stephen Segovia, establishing the Wildstorm characters alongside the DC Comics institutions.

A weird bird sex cult sums it up. But also regarding today's final issue of  Batman Urban Legends #23, Dennis Culver talks on his Substack about his Arkham Academy strip with Hayden Sherman, Jordie Bellaire, Pat Brosseau, and Dave Wielgosz, "a scared straight program for at risk teens in Gotham City, many with ties to Batman's Rogues Gallery. This issue everything goes bad in the worst possible way after Killer Croc kills one of the students, Li'l Kitten."

Because it turns out that it is not a "scared straight" programme at all. Quite the opposite, in fact.

It's less a "scared straight programme" as it is a "scared strigiformes" programme. Which is a really good joke if you know your Latin of scientific terminology.

Who better to dole out the death of Catwoman's possible sidekick Li'l Kitten than…?

Dennis Culver concludes "We're all super proud of how this story came out and hope to do more with these characters. Make sure you pick up a copy!" Will we see more from the Court Of Owls' very own school for supervillains, talons and influencers? Very soon I am sure. That's what 2023 will be for… maybe that KnightTerrors?
