Devil's Due And Checker Together, Digitally
Not too long ago, Checker Publishing, publishers of Supreme, Steve Canyon and Star Trek graphic noveks fell out with Diamond Comic Distribution and Diamond Books Distribution. There were allegations of lost product, higher than promised returns, delayed product, all that kind of thing. Mark Thompson of Checker stormed out promising that Diamond would fall in months.
Devils Due,sometime publishers of Hack/Slash, GI Joe and Family Guy also fell out with Diamond Comic Distribution and Diamond Books Distribution. There were allegations of lost product, higher than promised returns, delayed product, all that kind of thing. Josh Blaylock of Devils Due stormed out, etc etc…
This year Diamond announced Diamond Digital a new digital comics distribiution system using comic stores.
But also this year we say the emergence of "Devils Due Digital – A Checker Digital Company"
Owned and operated by Mark Thompson and Josh Blaylock, they promise they have sent out an email today promising control over a "substantial amount of successful digital content" and that are looking for more.
They promise a royalty rate from distribution including "Apple's App store on iOS format, Comixology, Graphic.ly, Google's e-Books store, Barnes & Noble's Nook, Sony Playstation, Nintendo Wii, Google Android and all Android operating systems, our own websites, and Amazon's Kindle (all devices) in English language format."
One to watch. Especially if they start targeting Diamond directly, spurred by revenge…
