DOT Comics Roll DICE With New Projects – A Kickstarter Success
Darrin O'Toole writes for Bleeding Cool:
Sat 28th and Sun 29th sees the 2nd Dublin International Comics Expo(DICE) take place, and Irish writer Darrin O'Toole is ready to see a years hard work come to fruition in time for it, with 3 separate comic books rolling out in time for the convention.
2012's DICE was Darrin's first ever convention, where he released the critically acclaimed comic "Tales from the Void". Since then he launched the free one shot webcomic "Perspective" which has been read over 11,000 times to date, travelled to Dundee where he finished runner up for the prestigious Dundee Comics Prize, and has given several discussions at conventions on writing comics. All the while, DICE has been the target for taking his projects to the next level, and the three books being unveiled show off some amazing upcoming artists working on his books.
The first and biggest book launching is "Earthruler", a 76 page full colour graphic novel that was successfully funded via a kickstarter campaign, previously highlighted on bleeding cool here: https://bleedingcool.com/2013/06/02/putting-the-super-in-super-hero/
The book smashed its target (due in huge part to Bleeding Cool readers) and the Shawn Langley drawn book will see its launch at DICE as promised during the campaign. The book is a mature take on the superhero genre and promises to take the genre to unfamiliar territory. The book even features a variant cover by Half Past Danger's Stephen Mooney.
