Magdalene Visaggio And Sonny Liew's 'Eternity Girl' Springs Out Of Young Animal's 'Milk Wars' Crossover
Yesterday, thanks to a trigger-happy DC intern who accidentally published the press release recapping the Vertigo/Young Animal panel more than 12 hours before the panel was scheduled to take place, we learned that Magdalene Visaggio and Sonny Liew will be working on a new Young Animal series called Eternity Girl, starting in March 2018:
ETERNITY GIRL, the new miniseries from Eisner and GLAAD-nominated writer Magdalene Visaggio (Kim & Kim) and Eisner award-winning artist Sonny Liew (The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye) follows
Urania Blackwell, a former CIA agent who can't die. Her only solution? Destroy the universe first. This six-issues series launches March 2018 from DC's Young Animal.
We were already on board the second we heard the creative team. But thanks to Bleeding Cool ace reporter Derek Trum, who attended the panel even though we totally spoiled it for him, we now have some more clarity on what the series about.
Eternity Girl will be the first book to come out of the Milk Wars weekly crossover event. Visaggio described the titular character as a former superhero who is struggling with depression and wants to die, but can't due to her super powers. Eternity Girl has been a retired hero for some time now due to losing the majority of her powers in an epic battle with her nemesis, Madam Atom. Now retired, she is visited by the ghost of Madam Atom, offering her a chance to die by destroying the entire universe. Eternity Girl will first appear during Milk Wars.
And here's some more art, including some images we've already seen:
And on Twitter, Visaggio clarified an error in the leaked press release:
And indeed, it now reads:
ETERNITY GIRL, the new miniseries from Eisner and GLAAD-nominated writer Magdalene Visaggio (Kim & Kim) and Eisner award-winning artist Sonny Liew (The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye) follows Caroline Sharp, a former secret agent who can't die. Her only solution? Destroy the universe first. This six-issues series launches March 2018 from DC's Young Animal.
