EXCLUSIVE: Philip Tan Takes Over Hellblazer Art In February
Philip Tan will take over art duties on DC's Hellblazer beginning in February, Bleeding Cool has EXCLUSIVELY learned. Tan replaces Moritat, who is leaving the book after issue #4, with Pia Guerra filling in until Tan takes over as regular series artist on issue #7 with writer Simon Oliver. In a statement from DC, Oliver said:
After a successful, record-breaking reboot, the irrepressible Moritat will be moving on and the pencil and ink duties will be passing into the capable and diligent hands of the one and only Philip Tan. As the book progresses onwards and upwards, strap yourself in and be prepared to be excited, thrilled and all-around awed by Tan's work
The news comes via someone at Comics Alliance accidentally publishing a story about it and then quickly deleting it, possibly due to an embargo. It's still there in Google Cache, however:
But absent from Comics Alliance itself:
Yeah, a little bit. But their loss is Bleeding Cool's gain. :)
Here's some EXCLUSIVE art from Hellblazer #7 from Philip Tan:
