Marguerite Bennett's First Comic Book Series – Butterfly
Last month, Boom! did the business with The Woods, their highest launching original series from their core Studios imprint since Mark Waid's Irredeemable. The Woods has sold over 17,000 copies with strong reorder activity.
Yesterday, Boom! announced that they were launching a new action spy comic series called Butterfly under their Archaia imprint, written by screenwriter Arash Amel.
But it's also co-written by Marguerite Bennett, who like Woods' author James Tynion has been writing at DC Comics under the wing of Scott Snyder on Batman, Batgirl, Lois Lane and Joker's Daughter one shots and the like. She also wrote a story for the Amazing X-Men Annual, out this week, and a story for IDW's In The Dark.
But this is her first comic that goes past one issue. Four of them, indeed. This continues Archaia move towards single issues as well as OGNs, including Hacktivist and The Last Broadcast.
Will retailers learn from Woods and order up? Or will they wait for the second print like previous Archaia singles? Here are some interior pages by series artist Antonio Fuso (G.I. Joe: Cobra) to get a head start.
