Monroe And Warburton Split Over Dennis Rodman's Dennis The Wild Bull And Allegations Non-Payment
Dan Monroe, the illustrator of Dennis The Wild Bull, a children's book credited as written by NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman has stated that not only has he never been paid for the illustrations he produced for that, and four other books with Dustin Warburton, but seems to throw doubt on Rodman's authorship.
I am no longer associated with Dustin Warburton. I have never been his partner, nor have I ever been his exclusive illustrator, nor has he in any way ever managed, nor represented me, my art, or my interests. As of noon yesterday, March 20, 2015 all ties between him and I have come to an end. I can no longer work on projects with someone who does not see the need to pay me for my time and energies in the creation of the projects.
Artists on my friends list should be ware, if you are contacted by Dustin Warburton, or A.M. Baldwin, run away very quickly!
I have produced all of the art, the character designs, the layout designs, and all print-ready files for the printer on five (5) books, not to mention poster designs, trading cards, and a variety of peripheral art for Dustin Warburton, including books such as Dennis the Wild Bull "by" Dennis Rodman, and to this day have never been paid a dime. He is very good at spinning tales full of empty promises in order to get a skilled artist to produce art for him, so he can go out and hobnob with celebrities.
He is invited to find a new artist who is dumb enough to do so. Good luck to him.
Those other books would be three children's books written with professional boxers, Macho Dad with Hector Camacho, Bullies Aren't Scary with Kostya Tszyu and Jesse and the Boogeyman with Jesse James Leija. And The Little Monster's Guide on How to Scare Children only credited to Dustin Warburton and Dan Monroe.
Warburton, when approached by Bleeding Cool gave some backstory but chose to comment saying,
We are very sorry that Dan Monroe feels the way he does. He is wrong on all counts and we wish him the best of luck.
Richard, thank you for sending us the link with the above information, it has been submitted to our attorney.
Maybe his attorney will want to wish Dan the best of luck as well?
