Obama And The White House In Today's Suicide Squad, Aquaman, Deadpool And Jeff Steinberg
It's not long until he's gone. Which is why everyone is coming out of the woodwork to publish comic book stories with Obama front and centre. We'be had lots of those silhouettes and vague glances in his direction. Now we're getting a more direct look at who we are about to lose as leader of the free world.
Jeff Steinberg: Champion of Earth #1 is the new creator-owned comic book series by Joshua Hale Fialkov and Tony Fleecs, out today from Oni Press. It features President Obama as a major character.
Remarkably, so does Suicide Squad Rebirth #1, also out today alongside Harley Quinn #1. Almost as if there is a film out or something.
So how do they compare? Jeff Steinberg has a rather jocular Obama treating his staff like bolstering playthings.
Over in Suicide Squad, he's a little… less jocular, after just being made aware of the existence of Suicide Squad. Something happening to America right now as well.
Well, they kind of do. Well, she does. Back over at Jeff Steinberg, who has just been made the alien ambassador for humanity, he's not being taken quite as seriously.
Still, it seems that Amanda Waller has no more respect for him.
Talking of things Obama can't know about, interns…
Does Obama know how to speak alien?
Continuity, folks, continuity!
What are aliens doing watching American TV? Why not read their comics instead? Then they'd know the kind of guy they're dealing with.
So which Ocama do you want? The silly goofy one who gets no respect? Or the dark, morally compromised one who… gets no respect?
He's not even in today's Aquaman #4, but his presence is known as Aquaman is arrested as a terrorist. And Obama's Chief Of Staff seems to channel his boss's attitude. The Suicide Squad version that is.
Thankfully over at Marvel, Obama and his crew behave better towards Deadpool…
Or rather, Solo dressed as Deadpool and mistaken for Spider-Man.
And if you want to know what the comics will look like when Donald Trump is President, Vote Loki is bang on the money. As long as Loki doesn't criticise a dead soldier's family, that is.
