A Photo Gallery Of The 2nd Denver Independent Comic and Art Expo – Or DINK! 2017

Neil Greenaway & Matthew Barta (of Nerd Team30) write for Bleeding Cool:

Over the weekend of April 8th & 9th, Colorado played host to the 2nd annual Denver Independent Comic and Art Expo (or DINK! 2017 for short). Moving from last year's Sherman Event Center, this years DiNK! show was held mere steps from the Colorado State Capital in the newly renovated McNichols Building. Originally opened in 1910 as the Carnegie Library, this Greek Revival building is now a cultural center and exhibition space. Located very nearly in the center of downtown Denver, this is a great new location for a convention like DiNK. Featuring first floor panel rooms with second and third floor exhibitor space, there is plenty of room for the close to 200 independent comic, 'zine and art vendors inside and still some room to grow.

The show floor boasts stars of the independent comic world such as Denis Kitchen, The Hernandez Brothers, Amy Reeder, Tony Millionaire, and Andrew McLean. RC Harvey was drawing cartoons around the corner from where The Sucklord was selling his custom toys next to the ForeverScape art installation. There were rising stars of the comic world (such as Enzo Garza) and as yet unknowns of the 'zine scene, and every shade of artist in between. There was a cannabis tour with Mr. Kitchen and Mario Hernandez. There was also a distinct lack of print towers, shirt vendors, and pop-vinyls. This is truly a convention for people who love underground and independent art, comics & 'zines. Included here is a photo gallery of some of the sights we beheld, some of the books that were offered, and some of the art we saw. But this is just a small sample of what was available. I can not suggest highly enough that you get tickets to next years show and see it all for yourself. Tickets for 2018's show are already on sale, and they have already announced the headlining guests.
