Promotional Posters That Comic Stores Get – The Infected, GL Legacy, Incoming!, Spider-Ham, Eternals, & More
Every month the comic book companies send out folded promotional posters to the comic book retailer / Diamond accounts. Each week different posters show up for the comic book stores to put up and promote upcoming titles. Most customers are familiar with the stores putting up new posters to show off upcoming titles, but which ones are out now for this month?
Starting with DC, they send out their promotional posters on a week to week basis usually on the week a title comes out or a week before and they come folded 8 ways if they are 24 X 36, or folded one way if they are only 11 X 17. Their promotional posters are not made for sale later though they produce more of them then Marvel does to distribute. The past two weeks posters were sent out to retailers from DC none of them actually represent cover art for comics that came out in December:
First, a beautiful promotional art poster by Lucio Parrillo to promote the Infected arc and the firm debut of the new Secret Six. Great image
And just unfolded.
DC also is still pushing their new kids graphic novel line and these two posters for Green Lantern: Legacy,
and Diana: Princess of the Amazons.
And then in another DC synergy push, a promotional poster for the DC Universe game and their new arc for the Batman Who Laughs with Metal Part 1. Odd thing to get a comic book store to promote, but it does at least mention the graphic novel inspiration.
Marvel posters for this month were the usual six posters that as always show up folded 16 ways so more compact then the DC ones. However, Marvel puts up almost all their posters for sale and the for sale versions come rolled, though both measure 24 X 36. All six posters from this month are now for sale, so check with your Local Comic Book Shop to see if they got one you wanted or use the Diamond code and ask to order one.
The first Marvel poster is the main cover art for the first issue of Conan Serpent War by Carlos Pacheco featuring Conan, Moon Knight, Solomon Kane, and Dark Agnes … who thought a poster featuring those characters together would be released? Diamond code OCT191144 if you want to try to order it still.
Next is the main cover art for the pulped Incoming #1 by Patrick Gleason. OCT191146 is the Diamond Code.
The third poster is the cover for the new Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham #1 by Will Robson. OCT191147 is the Diamond Code.
Fourth is an interesting retro poster of Jack Kirby's cover art for the Eternals #1. OCT191145 is the Diamond Code.
The remaining two posters are symbiote based with the cover for Symbiote Spider-Man Alien Reality #1 by Greg Land. OCT191148 is the Diamond Code.
And the last poster is Venom Island from the Venom #21 main cover art by Clayton Crain, OCT191149 Diamond Code.
So is any of this artwork worth having up on your wall at home?
