Boundless Announces All-New Series Ember On Kickstarter, Written And Drawn By Christian Zanier
Following on from the successful Lady Death Kickstarter last month that also heralded the return of Boundless as a publishing line, Boundless have followed up with their second series, which will be all-new and original in concept and execution. It's going to be the work entirely of one man in writing, art, the works, and that man is Christian Zanier, who's been previously recognized for his contributions to Ghost and Buffy for Dark Horse, Witchblade and Rising Stars for Top Cow, and Crossed: Badlands with Garth Ennis for Avatar Press.
As an original concept bringing its zero issue to Kickstarter, Ember features a jet-setting young socialite with plenty of trust fund money who survives a terrible plane crash and finds herself with "elemental" fire powers through science-gone-wrong means.
But having a power and knowing how to master it are very different things. The #0 issue is a full-size, full-color, all-action thrill-ride that jumps into her story several years after her fateful accident. You get to see EMBER as she is following her path of fame, has an amazing costume to focus her gifts, and is loving life again. That is, until Wreckage shows up, hell-bent on revenge for past sins. EMBER's origin will get hinted at, but that is a tale for future issues if with your help, we get that far.
Boundless also promise that the zero issue and packages pledged will begin shipping on April 25th, which like the Lady Boundless Kickstarter, is a quick fulfillment date few companies have enough publishing experience to provide.
Pledge packages start as low as $4.00 for the digital version of the comic through ComiXology, but also include $15.00 pledges which will get you several variant print editions of the comic and even include, at higher levels, prints and original artwork.
The Kickstarter campaign will run from now until January 30th and look out for more exclusive artwork reveals and insights into Christian Zanier's work here on Bleeding Cool.
