Where Do You Shop For The Fanboy That Has Everything? Or Yes Virginia, There Is A DC Comics Superstore

Hello friends!

It's your old pal Will Romine here. Now friends, I may be dating myself here, but who remembers the Warner Brothers Studio Store? For you fan-babies out there, the WBSS was a wonderful place where Warner Brothers squeezed every drop of merchandising potential from their catalogue of characters. I mean, they dug deep. Remember Cool Cat? Or how about Sam the Sheepdog? Yeah, that deep.

They didn't limit themselves to the Looney Tunes either. They gave DC Comics more retail space than your LCS. Imagine a place where you could buy Bruce Timm animation cells, Green Lantern PJs, and a Joker lunchbox all under the same roof. Those were the days, my friends. I treasure the memories, but I mourn the absence.

Well friends, happy days are here again. Recently, I took trip to Kuala Lumpur. I had a grand old time, made some pals, and enjoyed the finest Malay curries this side of, well, Malaysia. But what made my visit worthwhile was this sight.

That's right, giant fluorescent bat/super logos. I worked my way through the labyrinthine seven story mega-mall to find the source of this ocular siren song and was soon greeted with this glorious vision.

That's right friends, a whole store dedicated to DC merch. This place was packed to the gills. If I lived in Malaysia full time, I would gladly work as the night janitor for store credit. I've never seen DC wares displayed so beautifully and with such reverence. It's enough to make a guy weep. I took a few snapshots. Just to let you know, all of the figures in the pic are lifesize. No 1:32 scale nonsense here! I'm amazed/confused/a little jealous that we don't have one in the US, but happy/hopeful/satisfied that one exists at all.
