Red Pegasus Comics Vs Exxon
This is Kenneth Denson and Gabriel Mendez, married owners of Red Pegasus, a comic book store in Oak Cliff, Dallas. But they are going to have to take those shirts off.
Because ExxonMobil has demanded they stop using that version of a winged red horse in its logos.
Originally trademarked by the Vacuum Oil Company in 1911,by the 1930s was marketing Pegasus Motor Spirits and Mobiloil and has continued in use since.
They have been told they can keep the name though. Which is nice. Denson told the Dallas Morning News, "Whatever the case is, we don't want to lose our name as well… They said we can keep the name, but we can't keep the logo. And rather than fight a company that has an army of lawyers, we just decided to change logos."
The store has removed signs and merchandise featuring the logo, but are keeping the black logo on the side….
Now Red Pegasus needs a new logo of a winged horse that doesn't match Exxon's too closely.
Any suggestions?
