The Return of a Younger Version of Another Character to the Marvel Universe [Spoilers]
Bleeding Cool has mentioned how Marvel Comics seems to be obsessed with doppelgängers at the moment. The Original Five X-Men in X-Men Blue, appearing alongside their adult counterparts. Now in Extermination, we have a young Cable coming to fetch them back and killing his older self in the process. We have Spider-Man split into two, and Matt Murdoch's alter-ego and pretend-twin Mike Murdoch made flesh by Reader in Daredevil. And then in Mr & Mrs X, we get a second Rogue born out of a cosmic egg.
Well, we get the word that Marvel is going to do it again, and bring back a younger version of a character already doing quite the rounds.
Kid Loki was part of Matt Fraction's run on Thor, Loki God of Mischief de-aged and given a second chance by some — if not many. Written by Kieron Gillen in Journey Into Mystery, it became an award-winning and much-cherished run. Eventually, the movies caught up with the comics and Loki was reinvented into someone closer to Tom Hiddleston's age. And of late, Loki has been very busy in Thor, in Infinity Wars, in Avengers, and more. There's not enough of him to go around.
Which means that somehow, somewhere, somewhen, they are bringing back Kid Loki alongside Young Adult Loki. I don't know where, but I would hazard a guess that it might be the upcoming Asgardians of The Galaxy, after all, they've already got Throg, the Frog of Thunder, so Kid Loki would be a far less weird addition to that crew.
Maybe a good time to reread that run on Journey Into Mystery? To be fair, whenever isn't it a good time?
