Photos: Downtown San Diego Is All Set Up For SDCC
Downtown Dane Styler has been keeping us at Bleeding Cool informed about the setup for San Diego Comic-Con as it starts to roll out.
With less than a week before San Diego Comic-Con begins (after the dust settles from a little thing this weekend called San Diego Pride), a stroll down Fifth Avenue through the Gaslamp Historic District shows signs of stores and studios preparing for the coming fandom storm.
Souvenir shops have fresh superhero apparel on display, and banners campaigning for your attention are beginning to adorn the sides of buildings. So far, we've seen Fox pushing this fall's Gifted all over the Hilton hotel and on train cars, and here you can see Netflix and Marvel advertising the upcoming Defenders series.
If you're a fan of Kubo and the Two Strings and Coraline, be sure to check out animation studio LAIKA's pop-up shop on Fifth Avenue. It'll be open to the public from Friday, July 14th through the end of Comic Con, and the free exhibit will have props and puppets from their popular films.
Over at the SDCC Unofficial Blog, they've reported other retailers decorating their storefronts. Check out their photos here.
If you are attending, be sure to dress for some warm weather. My quick stroll down the avenue left me hot and sweaty. This is Dane in Downtown, counting down the imminent arrival of Comic-Con!
