Hot Comics Fifty Dollar Club (March 2011)

Hot Comics Fifty Dollar Club (March 2011)Here are seventeen recently published comic books that are currently breaking the $50 barrier based on actual reported sales. No CGC, no chase variant covers, no signed editions, no hardcovers or out-of-print collections, just the bare bones of your standard floppy comic book. Do you have any of these in your collection? If so… how long will they stay in your collection?

Amazing Spider-Man #583 Barack Obama (Marvel), Yeah that's right, he may be down in the polls but he's still riding high in the only poll that counts, that of the free market! This was a $35 book last February. Cover price $2.99, market price $89.

San Diego Comic Con Comics #2 (Dark Horse). The first appearance of Hellboy here from 1993. Cover price free, market price $78.34

Locke & Key #1 .(IDW) The news of the TV pilot/series has really kicked things off here. Cover price $3.99, market price $75. Time to sell mine, I think.

Ultimate Spider-Man #1 (Marvel) At the character may be nearing his end, his first appearance is holding up. Cover price $1.99, market price $70

Hot Comics Fifty Dollar Club (March 2011)30 Days Of Night #1 (IDW) The first appearance of tghe comic that would revitalise the supernatural comic scene. Market price  $67

Best Cellars The first appearance of the character that would go on to be Eric Powell's The Goon. Cover price $1.99. Market price $65. Last February, $32.56.

Walking Dead #3 (Image) Bit of a slippage here. Cover price $2.99. Market price $64. Price last May, $89.

The Goon #3 (Avatar) The Goon is really starting to rocket all over agin. Original cover price $2.99. Market price $63.

NYX #3 (Marvel) First appearance of X-23 who has been turning up all over the place of laste. OLriginal cover price $2.99 Market price $60. $61 last February.

New Mutants #98 (Marvel) First Deadpool. Original cover price $1.50. Market price $95. $79 last February.

Dark Knight Returns #1 (DC) The first issue of Frank Miller's Dark Knight series gets a revival. Possibly because of the Finch comic? Market price $59

Wolverine #1 (Marvel) Or maybe Miller is getting a revival. Certainly the second Wolverine movie being  based on this Claremont/Miller arc can't hurt. Market price $54

The Losers v5 Endgame TPB (DC Vertigo) This is not normally the kind nof comic I'd cover because of its higher price. But because the complete two volume set came into play when the movie came out, this final smaller volume of the original collections got less orders and less time on the market. So if you are collecting the original collections, this one is a bugger to find. Original price $16.99, market price $54.

Halloween III The Devil's Eye #1 (Chaos) Original price $2.99, market price $53

Miracleman #24 (Eclipse) The final issue of Neil Gaiman and MArk Buckingham's run on Miracleman. For now, at least. Original price $1.99, market price $51

Walking Dead #4 (Image) Original price $2.50, market price $50. Last February, $47.82

Morning Glories #1 (Image) Joining Chew across the $50 barrier comes Image's big hit. Original price $3.99, market price $50

Marvel Zombies #1 (Marvel) That's what happens when your writer works on another successful zombie series that gets turned into a TV show. Original price $2.99. Market price $50

Grendel 1 (Comico) Something's up here for Matt Wagner fans? Original price $1.50, market price $50.

Strangers In Paradise #2 (Antarctic) The second issue of this comic is also one of the rarest. Retailers who bothered to order the first one, reduced their orders for the second by a half. Cover price $1.99, market price $50
