Saturday, July 23
Room: 24ABC
3:30 – 4:30 PM

Small Press Publishers, what makes the difference between an item that will get news coverage, previews, interviews and what doesn't? A lot of publishers have no idea what to submit to the press, how to submit it and why they are being overlooked for coverage. Comic Journalist Rik Offenberger (First Comics News, Archie Comics) moderates this panel on just what it takes to get coverage with the Comic Journalists themselves telling you what they are looking for in your submission. Panelists include (in alphabetical order) Holly Golightly (BroadSword Studios), Laura Hudson (Comic Alliance), Rich Johnston (Bleeding Cool), Kiel Phegley (CBR), Alex Segura (Newsarama, Wizard, Archie Comics), Chris Thompson (First Comics News) and J.C. Vaughn (The Scoop). Find out what it takes to self-promote and make a significant impact on your ability to sell your comic project.

Tip 1: Create a logo for yourself that also features the website you want coverage from. Oh look, it works.

In his 2010 deposition, Mr. Lee seemed to suggest that Mr. Kirby was little more than a talented foot soldier who followed the whims of his boss. Mr. Lee sang a different tune during the Marvel glory years of the 1960s, when he sometimes described Mr. Kirby as an equal in the creative process. In a 1968 interview later quoted in The Comics Journal, Mr. Lee talked about brainstorming with Mr. Kirby, who, he noted, needed "no plot at all" to produce stories: "He just about makes up the plots for these stories. All I do is a little editing. … He's so good at plots, I'm sure he's a thousand times better than I."

This is Computo the Comic Link Conqueror speaking. I come for your women. But for now I merely collate comic-related bits and pieces online. One day I will rule. Until that day, read on.

They say I am a work in progress. The fools.

Captain America: The First Avenger Set Visit! | Superhero Hype

Eventually we are ushered towards a screen on the far side of the room, where Feige introduces a very rough cut of the sequence in which Steve Rogers is transformed into Captain America. The footage is impressive. It has the same, pulpy feel as "The Rocketeer," both in appearance and in tone, and, at least in those few minutes, Evans feels the perfect fit for Rogers. That this little snippet works, in spite of being out of context, and having only temporary effects in place, bodes well for the finished movie.

Batman To Face Mortality In New Six Issue Series

"I'm doing a Batman story, it's called Batman: Mortality, where we discuss the five stages of death… Paul Levitz is the writer. Paul Levitz is writing it, and it's a six issue mini-series, or a six issue series within the Batman [titles], the new Batman… And I didn't know this, too. Let's back up. Paul and I are planning to do this series. Unbeknownst to me, but probably he knew, DC is planning to do this big thing." – Denys Cowan

Iconic Batman scene to take place in 'The Dark Knight Rises'? | Batman-News.com

The Dark Knight Rises filmed at Wollaton Hall this past week, and Guy Jenkins of "Allergic Films" sent in some really cool set photos. First, we see Wollaton Hall, which will be used as the rebuilt Wayne Manor in The Dark Knight Rises. The next batch of photos from Jenkins show the set of what could be an iconic Batman scene from the comics, and animated TV series. I'd consider this a minor spoiler, so continue reading if you choose.

'Captain America: Super Soldier' Screenshots & Concept Art | Game Rant

Independence Day is fast approaching. Not the alien invasion movie with Will Smith, but rather the U.S. holiday put in place to celebrate America's independence from Great Britain back in 1776. The Fourth of July, as most Americans refer to it, is a chance to show off one's patriotic side, remember the history of the country, and enjoy a three-day weekend. In preparation for the holiday, Sega and Next Level Games have provided a bunch of new information and images for Captain America: Super Soldier.

The Legal View: The Once and Future Superman | The Beat

It would indeed be ironic if Neil Gaiman–who likened the Siegels' landmark 2008 courtroom victory to his own–were to provide the basis for gutting the heirs' financial stake in modern Superman material. But that's not likely to happen. In fact, DC has a strong incentive not to rely on Gaiman as precedent for splitting Superman in two–namely, its arguments in the Superboy case.
