Nintendo Says Zelda's "The Champions' Ballad" DLC Is Still Coming This Year
For those of us who have been patiently waiting for the next DLC pack for The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild to come out, it's been a very quiet time. Beyond being told that it would be coming out during the 2017 holiday season, no target date or finer details have been put on the expansion and Nintendo hasn't offered any details beyond that. This week, we finally got a glimmer of hope as Nintendo Of America's president, Reggie Fils-Aime, confirmed in an interview with Kotaku that the DLC is still on the way and on schedule.
Nintendo detailed the second Breath of the Wild expansion at E3 in June, dubbing it the Champion's Ballad, and promising a sizeable add-on adventure. But the company did not provide a release date during an expansive September online showcase of Nintendo's holiday line-up, only providing a November 10 release date for a new array of Amiibo figures for the champion characters highlighted in the expansion. Asked if the Amiibo release dates indicated the date for the expansion as well, Fils-Aime said: "We will shortly be announcing the date for that content, so I would not lock and load on November 10th."
The previous DLC pack, which included Trial Of The Sword and The Hero's Path, sold well for Nintendo and has kept the game alive for fans who already went through the original story and defeated Calamity Ganon. The second pack entitled The Champions' Ballad is said to give us more backstory on the four champions before they were defeated by Ganon and had their Divine Beasts taken over. Fingers crossed we'll at least see Nintendo release the pack before Christmas.
