Christopher McQuarrie Talks Upping the Stunt Stakes in Mission: Impossible 7 and 8
Mission: Impossible – Fallout was not only the best entry in the franchise it was also a huge movie that did extremely well with the box office. However, director Christopher McQuarrie hasn't held back when he said that these movies were a lot so many people didn't expect him to return for another entry. So everyone was a little surprised when it was announced that not only was McQuarrie returning for another entry in the series; he was returning for two. Empire Magazine recently got a chance to talk to him about his pitch for two movies and what that means for the franchise moving forward.
"I pitched the idea of making two movies, and now I have to justify why it's two movies," he tells Empire in the John Wick issue, on sale now. "You've got to earn that. You've got to make something that swallows the last three movies whole. I'm freaked out now. We've talked ourselves into something. Holy shit." As for the notion that these films surely have to take Tom Cruise's stunts to new levels of possibly lunar lunacy, McQuarrie has to pause for thought. "Here's the problem with going to the moon: how do you fall from the moon?" he asks
We don't have any other details about the movie since star Tom Crusie needs to wrap up Top Gun: Maverick first but we do know that they have back to back release dates in 2021 and 2022. With that kind of release schedule, there is a very good chance that these two movies are going to shot back to back as well.
