With the much anticipated musical crossover episode of The Flash airing this week, Entertainment Tonight went to the set to talk with stars Grant Gustin, Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood about the episode and their shipping names. Most Arrow fans have heard of Olicity, the shipping name for Oliver and Felicity which isn't a bad one. Iris and Barry don't really have a good one, but the fans did pretty well on coming up with a ship name for Kara and Mon-El… or as they are collectively called, Karamel.

Maybe that is something writers should take into consideration before putting characters together. I mean look at the new Cisco and Gypsy relationship. There's no good ship name there. Cissy? Gypco? Even if you go with him as Vibe you get Vipsy or Gybe. Those are horrible. That relationship will never work.

Here's a breakdown of the key points:

  • Setting the Scene: The segment opens by establishing that the crossover episode is a musical focused on love. The ET reporter is on the set, which has a vintage, romantic, supper-club feel.
  • Plot Reveal: The story involves The Flash (Barry Allen) and Supergirl (Kara Danvers) getting trapped in a coma-like, musical dream world. In the real world, their respective romantic partners, Mon-El and Iris West, team up to try and save them.
  • Cast Interviews: The video features interviews with the stars:
    • Chris Wood (Mon-El): He explains the plot of Mon-El and Iris working together and jokes about the musical theme.
    • Melissa Benoist (Supergirl): She discusses Kara's character arc, learning to balance her superhero life with her personal life and love.
    • Grant Gustin (The Flash): He joins the conversation about the romantic pairings.
  • Focus on Romance & "Ships": A significant portion of the interviews is dedicated to the romantic relationships, or "ships," in the shows.
  • They discuss the ship name for Kara and Mon-El, which is "Karamel."
  • They compare it to the ship name for Barry and Iris, "WestAllen," with Chris Wood humorously pointing out that "Karamel" is a sweet dessert.
  • The cast and reporter playfully brainstorm what a "cross-universe double date" would look like for the four characters, with roller skating being a funny suggestion.
  • Lighthearted Tone: The overall vibe of the segment is fun and lighthearted, with the actors laughing and joking with the interviewer about their characters' romantic lives and the unique musical premise of the episode.
