'Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets' Round-Up
The release of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is coming up and the studio has been ramping up the marketing for the last few weeks. It's time for a round up post including all of the TV spots and the various clips that we've seen.
The first is a featurette which has director Luc Besson talking about the movie and how passionate he is about it.
Besson mentions that technology has only just gotten to the point where this movie is possible. He also says that they did storyboards for a year before they started shooting. Besson is clearly in love with the source material and wants to do it justice. A passion for a project can be mean a lot in getting it off of the ground and Besson has passion.
Finally we have a bunch of TV spots that show off the crazy visuals of the movie. If nothing else this movie looks absolutely bonkers in the best possible way.
Next up we have the first of two clips. This one is basically a nice exposition dump about what Alpha actually is. It makes sure to explain everything so when it will, inevitably, come under fire we understand what the stakes are.
Finally we get to see Laureline (Cara Delevingne) question a group of aliens about the location of Valerian (Dane DeHaan).
Finally, while these are a little old, here are a bunch of character posters.
A dark force threatens Alpha, a vast metropolis and home to species from a thousand planets. Special operatives Valerian and Laureline must race to identify the marauding menace and safeguard not just Alpha, but the future of the universe.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, directed by Luc Besson, stars Dane DeHaan, Cara Delevingne, Clive Owen, Rihanna, Ethan Hawke, John Goodman, Herbie Hancock, and Kris Wu. It blasts into theaters July 21st.
