Jimmy Kimmel to Unvaccinated Horse Med Takers: "Rest in Peace, Wheezy"
After an extended summer break, Jimmy Kimmel returned to his ABC late-night talk show and wasting no time whatsoever? He found himself in hot water over comments that some took issue with. Addressing the dramatic increase in unvaccinated coronavirus patients, Kimmel also called attention to those taking up much-needed hospital bed space because they're using the livestock medication Ivermectin to treat COVID-19. "We've still got a lot of 'pandimwits' out there. The poison control centers have seen a spike in calls from people taking livestock medicine [ivermectin] – to fight the Coronavirus – but they won't take the vaccine,' Kimmel explained during his monologue. And honestly? Is he wrong? Taking a worm medication meant for horses because folks who wear their tinfoil hats a little too tightly told you to and not people who actually know and practice medicine sounds like one of those "make your bed now lay the hell down in it" situations.
And yet, they end up galloping their way into a hospital demanding medical attention (and a place to graze?) and taking not just beds but medical attention away from others who are there for reasons that weren't stupidly self-inflicted. As for what he thinks should happen to the former, Kimmel didn't mince words. "Dr. Fauci said that if hospitals get any more overcrowded, they're gonna have to make some very tough choices about who gets an ICU bed,' Kimmel said. "That choice doesn't seem so tough to me. Vaccinated person having a heart attack? Yes, come right in, we'll take care of you. Unvaccinated guy who gobbled horse goo? Rest in peace, wheezy."
Tough position to take? Maybe. Is it any more of a tough position to take than those who use a weak, lame excuse like "my personal freedom" to go around getting other folks sick- potentially killing them? Actually, it's less. Because Kimmel's perspective comes from having to make a choice between those who didn't choose to be in the hospital and those whose sheer premeditated ignorance landed them there. And if you're throwing out the "big pharma' conspiracy as to why you would take Mr. Ed's prescription over the vaccine, Kimmel has a reality check on that.
"One of the reasons these Sea Biscuits are opting for ivermectin is because they don't trust 'big pharma' – which is fine, I guess, except for the fact that ivermectin is made by Merck – which is the 4th largest pharmaceutical company in the world. And even Merck is telling people to cut it out. They released a statement saying Ivermectin has 'no scientific basis for potential therapeutic effect against Covid.' If a pharmaceutical company says 'please don't take the drug we're selling' you should probably listen to them,' Kimmel argued.
