'L.A.'s Finest': Gabrielle Union, Jessica Alba 'Bad Boys' Spinoff Series Sets May Premiere [TRAILER]
Series stars and executive producers Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba took to social media Thursday morning to reveal the premiere date and first-look trailer for L.A.'s Finest, Spectrum Originals' Bad Boys franchise spinoff series. With a pilot directed by Anton Cropper (Suits), L.A.'s Finest hails from writers Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier, Sony Pictures TV, Jerry Bruckheimer Television, and 2.0 Entertainment.
The first three episodes of the 13-episode series will be exclusively available to Spectrum video subscribers free (and ad-free) beginning Monday, May 13 – with new episodes releasing every Monday for the remainder of the season.
You can check out Union and Alba's premiere date announcement – with 6 seconds on actual show footage – in the promo below, which reintroduces us to Union's Syd Burnett, originally created by Marianne, Cormac Wibberley, and Ron Shelton for 2003's Bad Boys II.
With a cast that also includes Zack Gilford as Ben Walker, Duane Martin as Ben Baines, Ryan McPartlin as Patrick McKenna, Sophie Reynolds as Isabel "Izzy" McKenna, and Ernie Hudson as Joseph Vaughn, here's a look at the official trailer for Spectrum's L.A.'s Finest:
From the universe of the Jerry Bruckheimer/Michael Bay "Bad Boys" franchise, "L.A.'s Finest" follows Syd Burnett (Gabrielle Union), last seen in Miami taking down a drug cartel, who has seemingly left her complicated past behind to become an LAPD detective. Paired with a new partner, Nancy McKenna (Jessica Alba), a working mom with an equally complex history, Syd is forced to confront how her unapologetic lifestyle may be masking a greater personal secret. Taking on the most dangerous criminals in Los Angeles while skirting the rules, and speed limits, Syd and Nancy become a force to be reckoned with – on the streets, and in each other's lives.
Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television, and 2.0 Entertainment in association with Sony Pictures Television, L.A.'s Finest is executive produced by Union and Alba alongside Jerry Bruckheimer (Bad Boys), Jonathan Littman (CSI franchise), Kristie Anne Reed (Lucifer), Brandon Margolis (The Blacklist), Brandon Sonnier (The Blacklist), Pam Veasey (CSI:NY), Doug Belgrad (Peter Rabbit), Jeff Gaspin (To Tell the Truth), Jeff Morrone (Atomic Blonde), and Cropper.
