Marvel's Luke Cage Season 2: Catching Up with Mariah Dillard
Marvel's Luke Cage season one has quite a few different villains including Cornell 'Cottonmouth' Stokes (Mahershala Ali) and Willis 'Diamondback' Stryker (Erik LaRay Harvey), but the two that got away in the end were Mariah Dillard (Alfre Woodard) and Hernan 'Shades' Alvarez (Theo Rossi). When Luke Cage (Mike Colter) first got out of prison in Marvel's The Defenders, he asked Misty Knight (Simone Missick) what Dillard was up to. So it's no surprise at all that Netflix has just released a second trailer for the upcoming second season that answers that very question.
From the trailer it seems that Mariah is continuing to run Cottonmouth's old turf with Shades at her side. She's taken on a motherly role to Tilda Johnson (Garbielle Dennis) and seems to be the true target for John 'Bushmaster' McIver (Mustafa Shakir) and we find that Luke gets caught in the middle, forced to try and save Mariah. We see that she is almost taking on a Wilson Fisk attitude in that she feels she is the only thing that keeps Harlem going. Something she talks about in what looks to be a courtroom scene. Luke has a great line about Harlem only being able to handle one devil at a time. And we get our first look at Annabella Sciorra as Rosalie Carbone.
Marvel's Luke Cage season 2 premiers June 22nd on Netflix.
