SNL Cut for Time Sketch: LiMu Emu and Doug Go "Training Day" (VIDEO)

Things take a turn for LiMu Emu and Doug (Shane Gillis) in a Cut for Time sketch from this weekend's edition of NBC's Saturday Night Live.

Well, think of it this way. March 2nd host Sydney Sweeney (Anyone But You) and musical guest Kacey Musgraves. (with Josh Brolin and musical guest Ariana Grande set for March 9th) have a pretty low bar to clear next weekend thanks to this weekend's host, Shane Gillis. But it turns out we didn't have every sketch that Gillis was involved with inflicted upon us Saturday night. In "LiMu Emu & Doug" cut-for-time sketch, Liberty Mutual's LiMu Emu and Doug (Gillis) attempt to help a customer (Marcello Hernández) with insurance – and then things get dark. Like, really dark. We're talking "Training Day" crossed with "The Shield" dark. While this would've been a great sketch to have in the show, it also demonstrates the biggest problem with the show last night. It's the puppet emu who makes the sketch work – it's Gillis who comes across as the prop.
