The Masked Singer Gets Season 4 Pick-Up; LEGO Masters Returning
FOX is looking towards a new programming future, a future that includes more seasons of celebrities wearing masks and competitively singing, and teams of two engaging in some brick-building battles. On Wednesday, the network announced that The Masked Singer had been picked up for a fourth season and that LEGO Masters was being prepped for a second round for a mid-season debut. The news came as part of FOX's investors' earnings call two weeks before The Masked Singer wraps its third season. While LEGO Masters is expected for early 2021, Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch revealed during the call that the network was still targeting a fall premiere: "Should conditions allow for it, we are planning production in early August of Season 4 of The Masked Singer, which we'll target for a fall debut."
FOX's The Masked Singer drew nearly 24 million viewers in its post-Super Bowl season three premiere timeslot. Hosted by Nick Cannon and featuring panelists Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, and Robin Thicke, the singing competition series features celebrities facing off against one another with a twist: each singer is covered head-to-toe in an elaborate costume (complete with full mask) to conceal their identity. LEGO Masters is hosted by actor and producer Will Arnett and based on the hit British reality-competition series of the same name. Teams of two compete against each other to complete ambitious brick-building challenges, on their way to be formally crowned the country's most talented amateur LEGO builders. Arnett, the show's expert judges, and the episode's special guests encourage the builders, introduce incredible challenges, and put their creations to the test. The competing team who impress the judges the most progresses to the next round. The top teams who make it to the finale will compete for a cash prize, the ultimate LEGO trophy, and the grand title of "LEGO Masters".
