Will There Be A Mighty Marvel Team-Up With The Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. And The Inhumans?
Yes, no, maybe so. In typical Marvel PR spin a question like that can neither be confirmed or denied at this point. The Inhumans has begun filming in Hawaii but those of us familiar with the Marvel Cinematic Universe have known about the inhumans since the middle of season two on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. However, the MCU television and movie divisions seem to be working on slightly different wavelengths as they seem reluctant to have a true crossover. When the inhumans were introduced it had people wondering if Daisy would make the jump to the movie but then the movie got canceled. It seemed like the inhumans were destined to being second string players in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. when a television adaption of The Inhumans suddenly came to be. Now, much like any property that gets added to the MCU, the question of "will or how will it crossover with everything else?"
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. co-creator Jed Whedon recently sat down with press including Digital Spy and asked him whether or not the two shows would crossover.
"Without being able to say anything really about that show, it will have its own world, just as we tried to start our own world," he told press including Digital Spy. "Whether or not there's a crossover, we will see."
Whedon knows his way around the questions that could get him a visit from the Marvel snipers which is to basically give us something to quote while confirming or denying nothing. However, Whedon does seem to understand that the point of a shared universe is have some might Marvel team-ups.
"Everything is connected, and that's fun to play with," Whedon said. "But the point of our show is to be our show, and we want our fans to be rewarded for watching it without having to watch everything else.
"But we also want there to be a bigger reward for people who watch all of them, so that they'll start to see that there's lines connecting it. It's more fun for people who are playing the whole game, but if you don't, you'll still have a great rollercoaster ride."
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has often felt like the red headed stepchild of the MCU as it has been largely ignored by the movies and even the Netflix shows. However, season four has been the best season so far with the rotating stories making it have much less in the way of filler episodes.
Agents of S.H.I.E.D. airs on Tuesdays at 10pm ET on ABC. The Inhumans will premiere it's first two episodes in IMAX theaters on September 1, 2017 with the rest of the series set to air on ABC later that fall.
