Dave McKean Tweet In Cages

cagesCages is one of my favourite graphic novels of all time, up with From Hell, Longshot Comics, Cowboy Wally Show and Jimmy Corrigan.

And now Dave McKean is going to destroy it all and make a film. He tweets;

Great first meeting about Cages film; a long term possibility, but good to know all interested parties are on the same page.

Oh all right, I liked McKean's transferred work on Neverwhere and MirrorMask but still…

Cages is a massive tome about cats and birds, music and musicians, religion, philoshophy, age, and, well, the cages we all live in. Those that trap us and those we enter freely. I have no idea how it could work as a film, its lack of narrative and tangential storytelling would make it a mix of Fantasia and Cock And Bull Story dipped in shadow.

Obviously I'd see it.
