Reading About Brightest Day When Drunk — "I've got your light'n'brighty right here..."

I've just got back from the pub. Five pints and a few chasers, that's the way to round out a working week. Of course in America they're not even in the bars yet. So what's going on over there?

Well DC are releasing solicitations for their Brightest Day books. And the common theme is… no one is really sure what it's about. Or rather no one's telling us yet. Is it the return of characters from the dead, with all the complications that will bring?

Maybe we can jumble up the solicitations, shove them together to try and make some snese of it all… will that work? I'm drunk, I'll try anything once.

our heroes will need to rise up more than ever to combat the forces of evil, and a select few will uncover a secret that binds them ALL… the "New Guardians" who have been forced to make Earth their new home… can the new immortal Green Lantern and the legendary Marine help Kyle Rayner suppress the growing threat within their ranks…surviving members Booster Gold, Captain Atom, Fire and Ice have to figure out what unseen mastermind is threatening to destroy the entire Super Hero community… Oracle, Black Canary, Huntress and Lady Blackhawk all return to Gotham City where they belong – and they've brought a couple of new friends (or are they foes?)… Barry corners a suspect…and can't believe who it is… Supergirl rejoins the JLA as incredible, ancient forces of chaos are unleashed. What could posses her and Power Girl to battle to the death?… the team is hired to assassinate The Atom! And for this team, failure is not an option!

Any the wiser? No, me neither.

Oh but I know I'm probably going to buy them all. I am being marketed to by a wave of institutionalised confusion. And it's working.

Hey, you know, that Justice League solicitation copy seems familiar – someone killing off the old Justice League, the remaining members trying to work out what's going on. Hey, Giffen's not doing Watchmen 2 is he?

Time for bed.
