Tony Lee To Write Screenplay For Flight 342 – But What Else Will He Announce At San Diego Comic-Con?
It's no secret that I've known Tony Lee for a long time. And although he's had his ups and downs in comics, he's always been consistent at San Diego Comic-Con, announcing some of his bigger projects here. Away from the con since 2013, Tony's back with a new book, Also Known As, launching at the convention (and based on a screenplay he wrote, currently in development), and has been seen at almost more swanky movie / TV VIP rooms than Stan Lee, while not seen that much on the convention floor.
In fact, from what I hear San Diego Comic-Con has been far from a 'comic' con for him; instead it's been a series of film and TV meetings and announcements, including the news that he's writing a sci-fi movie set on a plane called Flight 342, in production later this year, described as 'a kind of 'X-Files at 30,000 feet" and announced yesterday on twitter:
HazVFX is Hasraf 'HaZ' Dulull, a British director and VFX producer, repped by LA agency Ground Control. And it looks like he's also the yet-unnamed director of the futuristic Robin Hood movie that Lee's writing for Gianni Nunarri's LA-based Hollywood Gang production company, best known around here for Frank Miller's 300 movie adaptation and its sequel.
Additionally, Lee was seen deep in discussions for most of Friday night in the Hyatt Bar with Boxfly producer Haydn Pryce-Jenkins, here to promote the ALSO KNOWN AS book and film, and Ring Of Honor Tag team champions (and comic nerds) Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian, apparently casting a wrestling comedy called IN THE RING, currently in development and starring Daniels and Kazarian:
With it only being Saturday, are there more announcements to come? We know there's a TV show not yet announced that's out there, and something else, possibly a film in development with Noel Clarke's Unstoppable Entertainment that's bubbling to the surface. And Lee's got two other film projects, including historical thriller Stoker's Monster out there, that are perfect for San Diego Comic-Con based releases.
Two more days. Place your bets now.
