Doctor Octopus Just Can't Stop Killing Peter Parker (SPOILERS)

big-spoilerSpoilers ahead – for both Amazing Spider-Man #20 but also Infamous Iron Man #1. Just saying.

Dan Slott was right about the Clone Conspiracy series being the main event and Amazing Spider-Man being just the back-up.

The final page of Clone Conspiracy #1 gave us this.

That's how Amazing Spider-Man #20 begins. But by the end of this issue, we are no further along. Maybe one punch of the Octopus arms, but that's it. Clone Conspiracy #1 said "To Be Continued" but, frankly, not in Amazing Spider-Man.

So. We get an idea of what the reanimated corpses are – and why they aren't clones.

image-13Let's recap.

Once upon a time Doc Ock swapped bodies with Peter Parker, then let his own body die.

Eventually DockOck would restore Peter Parker's mind to save the love of his life, and died.

Between the two, he saved a version of his mind using 2099 technology, after seeing his future fate.

Now Jackal has revived Doc Ock using his dead body – but it has kept Peter Parker's mind, the one with which it died.

So Doc Ock has to kill him all over again.

And let's make this clear. The current Spider-Man has a revived version of Peter Parker's mind.

But this is actually closer to the real deal.

So it means in today's Amazing Spider-Man, a copy of Doc Ock actually kills off Peter Parker properly. All the other versions were feints. This is where is counts and where it actually happens.

And the version he is fighting in real life – is just a copy.

Everyone is just a copy! Is this life or is it Memorex?

Someone has been watching a lot of Dollhouse

Still, it gives the dead Tony Stark some hope in Infamous Iron Man #1.

And an idea about where Riri Williams will get her AI in the new Invincible Iron Man #1…
