Will The Steve Rogers/Helmut Zemo Shipping Start Here? Goodbye #Stucky, Hello #Zteve?
There's no one fanfic likes to ship more these days than Steve Rogers, Captain America. With Tony Stark, with Bucky Rogers, with Thor, with Loki, even (weird) Black Widow.
But of late, in the Captain America: Steve Rogers, we've been learning of another close male friendship in the new Kobik-rewritten continuity where Steve Rogers is recruited as a Hydra operative in the nineteen-twenties. A relationship that started at school… think Harry Potter, but for Nazis…
…as one comes to the rescue of another.
Helmut Zemo, son of Baron Zemo, and now a firm fast friend of the young Steve Rogers.
And with Steve Rogers, denied a father figure, shaping his model for important men in his life.
And scenes of kinship and closeness between the pair, both young…
…and growing up. Helmut still looking out for Steve, and even acting against Hydra in Steve's best interests.
And cementing their bond.
Both in the past…
And now in the present.
And today's Captain America Steve Rogers #12 by Nick Spencer and Javier Pina, giving us some of what could be the strongest #Zteve moments yet.
While throwing shade on possible #Stucky…
There's always something about men in uniform, isn't there?
So is this goodbye #Stucky? Hello #Zteve? Will anyone else take this and run with it?
