Nathan Fillion Was Never Going To Have A 'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2' Cameo
The Guardians of the Galaxy movies love their Easter Eggs and the sequel was no different. The cosmic end of the Marvel universe expanded considerably and fans have been wondering what would and would not make the cut. Actor Nathan Fillion added to this commotion by posting the following picture on instagram.
Between this image and leaked images of a now scrapped scene on Earth that showed a movie theater fans deduced that Fillion was likely playing Simon Williams aka Wonder Man. Fans have been wondering if maybe the scene would appear on the home release but director James Gunn cleared it up in a spoiler heavy facebook live Q&A.
"There is no Nathan Fillion cameo and there never was a Nathan Fillion cameo. In those posters, and only in those posters, Nathan Fillion was Simon Williams."
While it is a shame that we won't get to see Fillion in the Marvel Universe yet he seems keen to make it happen with the help of Gunn. That instagram image could have been a joke, a photoshop job, or just two people that know each other and are very active on social media just having a little fun. While it isn't canon yet that Wonder Man exists in the Marvel Universe it wouldn't be surprising if his name turned up in the background at some point going forward. He did play a large role in the Brian Reed and Rob DeLatorre run of Ms. Marvel and Carol is making her way to the big screen in 2019.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is out now.
