Buying A Comic Shop On Facebook…

Andy Liegl is the new owner of comic book store Brave New World Comics in Santa Clarita, California. And how did he come by this acquisition? He found it on Facebook.

The Santa Clarita Valley Signal interviewed Liegl who told them "I saw on Facebook that the previous owner, Mike Hill, was planning to close the store… We got talking, and before you know it we'd agreed on a price, and I owned a comic store."

Most people just click the "like" button.

Liegl has a long history in the comics industry, managing comic store Collector's Paradise in Pasadena, an assistant editor at CBR, founding the ComicAttack website, managing comic con appearances for Boom! Studios, and as a sales rep for Valiant Comics. So he knows of what he speaks – though usually the career journey is in the other direction.

Upcoming events include a signing this Saturday with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles artist Chris Johnson, and a future event with Shea Fontana, who writes the DC Super Hero Girls series and Wonder Woman. Both are local creators, and part of Liegl's plans to foster an all ages audience, as well as creating a reading club, and working with local schools and libraries.
