The Story Of Oz And Manhattan – In Action Comics #988, Detective Comics #965 And JLA #15 (SPOILERS)

Today sees the publication of Action Comics #988 by Dan Jurgens, Ryan Sook and Hi-Fi Color, and Detective Comics #965 by James Tynion IV, Eddie Barrows, Eber Ferreira and Adriano Lucas. And both focus on the figure of Mr Oz, who has been haunting the DC Universe, stealing figures and imprisoning them. And recently revealed to be Superman's father Jor-El – if you believe his story.

And it is quite a story, being snatched by another figure, with a blue energy signature consistent with Dr Manhattan, and also sent to Earth… 

… and had a very different life situation. Also means that he has been living here alongside Superman – both of them until that got merged, just not being very super, and having a very different upbringing than Superman got in Smallville.

Do you believe him? The question is also posed in Detective Comics as Tim Drake makes a bid for freedom. And discovers Mr Oz' identity for himself.

His eyes turned elsewhere? What is Manhattan, Sauron? But there's someone else trapped in his vaults who makes his way out.

We looked at the history of Tim Drake, the Batman Of Tomorrow. It seems as if this particular story has been rebooted out, but this is how it went down last time. And you can look forward to this kicking off in a Super Sons crossover in December.

But where could Manhattan – if it is he – be looking right now? Well Justice League Of America #15 by Steve Orlando, Felipe Wantanabe, Ruy Joes and Marcelo Maiolo, which is following up on the DC Rebirth Special #1 Atom story, suggests that someone may be to blame for rewriting the reality of the universe…

…is that a blue glow as well? It is rather looking like it…
