Milo Manara and PornHub Debut Sex Card Game This Weekend at Lucca

Famous comic book writer/artist, Milo Manara famed for his sexually explicit comics appeared at Lucca Comics & Games Festival this year to debut Red Light: A Star Is Porn.

A collectable card game based on the porn industry, it will be released in conjunction with Pornhub and Italian DJ Immanuel Casto's entertainment company Freak & Chic. It costs 20 Euros.

LGBT+ activist Casto previously debuted a 2016 video, Alphabet Of Love on Pornhub, and released a prostitution-based collectable card game in 2012 called Squillo. It appears as if it was Casto who brought in Manara to design characters and contribute illustrations. Freak & Chic also made four wraparound variants, each based on a character drawn by Manara.

Manara also debuted a 2019 calendar, Le Donne Di Milo (The Women Of Milo) at the show.

Renowned for both his erotic and traditional comics work, Red Light marks Manara's entrance into the CCG space. As well as working on Sandman and X-Men in the USA, he's no stranger to controversy, as his variant cover for Spider-Woman #1 dominated the early conversation around the superhero series. Then again, Manara's cover for Grindhouse: Drive In, Bleed Out #8 suited the Dark Horse series well.

His collaborator, Casto, might be a more controversial figure to non-European audiences. His most recent collection of new music, 2015's The Pink Album, is an explicit album about gay and fetish sex. One single hit the headlines for a use of a homosexual slur in an otherwise positive song about self-discovery.

Manara continues work on his multiple-volume comics biography of Caravaggio, and Casto begins a short Italian tour on November 13th.

DJ Shadow once said that that goal of any collaboration is to make something unique in each artist's catalog. That could be the definition of Red Light, which as of this writing does not enjoy American distribution. Bleeding Cool has reached out to Freak & Chic as well as Pornhub for more information.

We involved the Maestro once we defined the partnership with Pornhub and the gameplay.

Manara has always tried to represent the woman in all its forms and this new erotic challenge, together with a colossus like PH was considered stimulating and compelling. Immanuel Casto wrote the screenplays of the 25 pornstars that Manara has subsequently drawn (an artbook for Christmas containing the 25 illustrations will also be released, by Feltrinelli Comics).

Immanuel Casto knew very well the work of the Maestro, he is an icon of the international comics scene and we all grew up admiring his drawings. :)
