'The Dirt': Netflix's Mötley Crüe Biopic Kick-Starts Their Wild Side [TRAILER]

The Dirt, the Mötley Crüe biopic based on the memoir The Dirt: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band, shows us again how Netflix has mastered '80s nostalgia.

Based out of Los Angeles, the film follows the exploits of the 80s glam metal band from their beginnings with bassist Nikki Sixx and drummer Tommy Lee starting the group recruiting lead guitarist Mick Mars and later, lead singer Vince Neil, who went to high school with Lee.

The trailer offers a glimpse of the band's highs and lows, particularly their uproarious rise in the metal scene at the pinnacle of their popularity throughout the 80s riding the success of the five albums and subsequent tours. With the success also comes the lows from their infamous hotel TV throwing incident, drug abuse, Neil's vehicular manslaughter that influenced the glam style of the band, and band turmoil in the 90s.

With the memoir published in 2001, we may at least get the time when Neil quit the band in 1992 before rejoining in 1997. Lee quit the band in 1999 before rejoining in 2004. Whether we'll see the band's exploits since 2001 remains to be seen.

Directed by Jeff Tremaine (Jackass), the film stars Douglas Booth (Pride, Prejudice and Zombies) as Sixx, Colson Baker (a.k.a. Machine Gun Kelly) as Lee, Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones) as Mars, and Daniel Webber (Marvel's The Punisher) as Neil.

The film releases on Netflix March 22nd, 2019.
