You Can Read Charlie Adlard's Vampire State Building Graphic Novel in English Right Now
Last week in Paris (Notre-Dame had nothing to do with me), I picked up the first volume of Vampire State Building, the new series of French graphic novels by Patrick Renault, Ange, Charlie Adlard and Sébastien Gérard, published by the Soleil, promised for many years but now in print.
Originally I was told to expect an English edition from Image Comics eventually. Well two corrections.
Firstly, it will be published in English later this year by Ablaze Media. A UK-based publisher founded by writer Rob Dunlop and artist Peter Lumby for the publication of original comics material, with a focus on graphic novels, and who are distributed through Diamond Comic Distributors.
And secondly, it's available in English now, digitally, translated by Edward Gauvain through Soliel, Kindle and ComiXology. Which, for a 48 page colour story, is pretty well priced for first release. Puts War Of The Realms into harsh perspective.
And they have the preview in English too…
Terry Fisher, a young soldier about to be sent on operation, has arranged to meet up with friends at the top of the Empire State Building for a farewell party… But suddenly a legion of Vampires attack the skyscraper, intent on massacring its occupants. Hounded across the 102 floors, that have now become a deadly trap, Terry must face an army of abominations, before they spill into the city, and defeat U'tluntla, the terrible Vampire God, walled in the building since its construction.
