About That Marvel Death This Week. And Why It Is Different To All The Others. (SPOILER)
So there were a few explosions as people read Original Sins #5 yesterday. Over one moment in particular.
Surely some people must have read Original Sins #5 by now and be angry about it. SURELY?!

ORIGINAL SINS #5 also has a gut-punch of a Dum Dum Dugan story by @Al_Ewing & Butch Guice…

Because, yes, we had a Marvel death. And it was the death of Nick Fury's best mate, Dum Dum Dugan. Cheerful, positive Dum Dum.
Who appeared in the first Captain America movie as well.
And, in a way, in the second, too.
So killing off Dum Dum in the comics won't affect the film too much. But the way they did it in the comics, well they scorched the earth.
Nick Fury has to explain why he can't use Dum Dum's Infinity Formula to restore his lack of aging. Because he never had it. Because he was never Dum Dum. At least not since the sixties.
When Dum Dum Dugan died. And since then?
He's been a life model decoy.
A series of life model decoys.
Which means, more than any other character if Dum Dum Dugan comes back, when he comes back, there is little that anyone can do to convince the audience that he actually is Dum Dum. He will always possibly be an LMD.
Also they could tie up a loose plot point asking why Nick Fury couldn't get his Infinity Formula from his best mate to reverse his aging.
Ah well. Done now. Bye by Dum Dum, Turns out we never did know you after all.
