C.B. Cebulski Has Marvel Comics Presents Style Plans for 2019

We've been mining a recent episode of the Word Balloon podcast for articles all day, but we saved the best for last.

In 1988, Marvel launched a new ongoing bi-weekly anthology title called Marvel Comics Presents, featuring several stories (at least one of which starred Wolverine). The comic ran for 175 issues, and gave us, amongst lots of classic Wolverine lore, Barry Windsor-Smith's Weapon X. A reboot was tried in 2007 which ran for just 12 issues. Could it be time for try #3? Wolverine is back, after all. Or will be after another mini-series or three.

On the Word Balloon podcast, host John Siuntres played a recording of a panel he led at TerrifiCon featuring Marvel Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski, as well as two Marvel writers, Charles Soule and Nick Spencer. Well, three writers, if we count Cebulski's alter ego, Akira Yoshida. But that's neither here nor there.

During the panel, fans asked questions and Cebulski had some really interesting answers. One fan told Cebulski that his local comic shop owner was pining for a relaunch of Marvel Comics Presents, or at least a similar anthology style book, perhaps with a mixture of old and new creators. Said Cebulski: "Sounds like your comic shop owner got a peek at our 2019 publishing plans. Wait and see. I think you'll be happy."

Now that is very interesting, isn't it? Post your thoughts in the comments. Our thought: you could make an All-Wolverine version of Marvel Comics Presents today, with all the different versions of Wolverine. Yeah, we said it. And we apologize if Marvel steals that idea.
