Cathy Malkasian, Friday, July 5th, 6pm Writers Studio
Cathy Malkasian is an animation director and Eisner-winning cartoonist. Her credits include Rugrats, The Wild Thornberrys film (for which she received a British Academy Award nomination), and most recently, over 20 episodes of Curious George for PBS since 2008. Her first graphic novel, Percy Gloom was received an Eisner nomination for Best Graphic Album.
James Robinson, Friday, July 12th, 6pm Timkin Hall
James Robinson has been writing for over two decades, with an early comics work, "Grendel: The Devil's Whisper", appearing in the 1989 series of British anthology A1. The story for which he has arguably been most renowned is the DC Comics series Starman, where he took the aging Golden Age character of the same name and revitalized both the character and all those who had used the title over the decades, weaving them into an interconnected whole. In 1997, Robinson's work on the title garnered him an Eisner Award for "Best Serialized Story".
Jason Shiga, Friday, July 19th, 6pm Writers Studio
Jason Shiga is an Eisner-winning Asian American illustrator and cartoonist from Oakland, California. His comics have a geeky side, and often feature exciting uses of math.
Dash Shaw, Friday, July 26th, 6pm Timkin Hall
Dash Shaw is a cartoonist and animator in Brooklyn, New York. His graphic novel "New School" debuted in April, 2013, from Fantagraphics Books. His recent books include Bodyworld and Bottomless Belly Button. His animated works include the Sigur Ros video "Seraph", "Wheel of Fortune", and the ifc series "The Unclothed Man in the 35th Century AD." dashshaw.tumblr.com
