Christel Dee to Write Doctor Who: 'The Women Who Lived' Anthology
Christel Dee has been a Doctor Who fan since the show returned in 2005. She has a Film & Television Production degree and has worked at a variety of television production companies and her YouTube videos based around the show were so popular that she was picked by BBC Worldwide to present their weekly Doctor Who: The Fan Show, of which she is also an assistant producer.
And now she is writing her first Doctor Who fiction. Official fiction, that is. She's also written a Doctor Who Paper Dolls collection, but this is a little more than that,
The Women Who Lived: Goodnight Stories from the Whoniverse is an anthology of stories illustrated by women, focusing on women characters in the Doctor Who Universe.
From Sarah Jane Smith to Bill Potts, from Susan Foreman to the Thirteenth Doctor, women are the beating heart of Doctor Who. Whether they're facing down Daleks or thwarting a Nestene invasion, these women don't hang around waiting to be rescued – they roll their sleeves up and get stuck in. Scientists and soldiers, queens and canteen workers, they don't let anything hold them back.
Featuring historical women such as Agatha Christie and Queen Victoria alongside fan favourites like Rose Tyler and Missy, The Women Who Lived tells the stories of women throughout space and time. Beautifully illustrated by a team of all-female artists, this collection of inspirational tales celebrates the power of women to change the universe.
The book will be published in September.
