Hachette Launches A New Marvel Graphic Novel Partwork For 2013
As the Eaglesmoss Marvel Classic Figurine Collection comes to an end, painted lead figures with a magazine about the character, Hachette seem to be taking the magazine and merging it with their existing Marvel graphic novel partwork, The Ultimate Graphic Novel Collection. This takes classic Marvel stories and publishes them in hardback format every two weeks, and sold in newsagents, supermarkets and through subscriptions. Currently they are around half way through their 60 book plan.
But it seems once every two weeks is not enough, and they have created another partwork series of Marvel graphic novels to run in between each issue. Marvel's Mightiest Heroes will reprint classic stories with it seems an emphasis on slightly older stories, with articles and features about the comic in the back. Although in some cases, the volumes chosen provide stories that follow up on books published in the other line.
It is worth noting, however, that as a British publication licensed from the USA, the creators of these comics will not receive any royalties from the sales of these books. That's just the way Marvel does business…
