ComicbookDB.com Closing December – But Will Return, New and Improved
I don't go to ComicbookDB.com that often. The rather brilliant website compiling and collating comic books, creator credits and character appearances can come in very useful, as well as allowing people to curate their own comic book collections. But it appears that it has never been able to comply with those GDPR requirements and so it is totally blocked in Europe. I have to go through the rigmarole of changing my IP, and so I end up going elsewhere.
Today however, I had to do go out of my way for the breaking news. From the front page of ComicbookDB, it reads
IMPORTANT! ComicbookDB.com will be closing its doors on December 16th, 2019 as we look towards creating a new and improved tool for collectors to utilize. We want to make sure everyone has a chance to download their data & collections by clicking on this link after logging in. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to contribute to the site and we look forward to seeing you again soon. If you have any questions, click here.
ComicbookDB is owned by CBS, along with ComicBook and ComicVine. Bleeding Cool understands that this announced closedown is merely temporary, however, and that there is something new and better is coming. The owners just need to temporarily close the main portal down for now. And maybe sort out something that will let the Europeans come and play as well.
