Complete Love Vol 26 #2- The Pulp Magazine That Walked Like A Comic

Complete Love Magazine vol 26 #2 was a pulp magazine that transformed in 1951 into a comic book, under the Ace Magazines imprint.

Complete Love Magazine vol 26 #2 from 1951, as pictured below, was the first copy of that publication as a comic book from the Ace Magazines imprint. This was part of a comic book and pulp-magazine publishing company owned by husband and wife team Aaron A. Wyn and Rose Wyn, who had been publishing pulp fiction under the names Periodical House and A. A. Wyn's Magazine Publishers since 1928. Other titles included the superhero comic  Super-Mystery Comics featuring Magno the Magnetic Man, a superhero without an origin or even a secret identity, unique at the time.

But as well as horror and crime, their biggest success was with romance comics, with Complete Love Magazine beginning as a pulp-magazine title before switching to comics format in 1951. And Complete Love Magazine Volume 26 #2 is where that switch happened. It would then run until Complete Love Magazine  Volume 32 #4 in 1956, under the Ace Periodicals and the Periodical House imprint. Telling stories firmly in the romance genre that had been invented by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby for a female market, after the comic book reading American soldiers of World War Two had come home and put away such… foolish things.

With comic book stories Too Much To Forgive, Her Two Way Romance, Here's My Heart –  C.O.D and I Sacrificed Everything, the cover is by Ken Rice, best known for sci-fi and horror comics. This shows a different, less horrific side to his work, promising something new, and Heritage Auctions have a copy up for sale in a CGC 3.5 grade.
