Continuity Gone Bad in Next Week's Unlucky Amazing Spider-Man #13
Continuity is a wonderful thing, adding richness and depth to comics that set them apart from most other forms of entertainment. But continuity can also be a danger, preventing change, adding needless complication, and making comics fandom difficult to penetrate.
Heh. Penetrate.
The latest storyline from Amazing Spider-Man demonstrates the dangers of continuity better than most, as the titular wall-crawler and his pal J. Jonah Jameson have been trapped in a labyrinth of J. Jonah's past, and it's trying to kill them. Even so, Spider-Man can't help but spend the entire preview below recapping past events, so obsessed with continuity that he's not even giving his full attention to battling a giant-sized Big Man until it catches up with him…
Ouch! And Foswell goes on to throw continuity right in Jameson's face when he reminds him that Spider-Man's destruction was Jameson's own idea…
Perhaps continuity is better off forgotten?
Time for a reboot, J. Jonah. This is all too much to keep track of.
Amazing Spider-Man #13 hits stores next Wednesday, January 16.

• You know what's annoying? Having to save J. Jonah Jameson's life.
• Sure, he's been on Spidey's side for a little while, but that's after YEARS of him making Spider-Man's life a living heck.
• I feel like this amount of responsibility should come with even more power.
• Anyway, who, other than most of New York, would want to punish J. Jonah Jameson?
