How Dark Nights: Metal #6 Reshaped the DC Universe (SPOILERS)
We mentioned that Dark Nights: Metal #6 had a few surprise artists for the Coda at the end of the issue. After all, the final issue of this event series had a lot to address and set up…
The Source Wall has broken. And the DC Universe has been changed. You know, again.
Or, if not changed, then expanded upon. The longest-running, most-written continual fictional continuity has just got even bigger. We have a home for the New Challengers. A threat of Barbatos below. A new House of Heroes.
The New Age of Heroes characters emerge, The Immortal Men, Sideways, Curse of Brimstone, and more…
We have a reformed Metal Men. Ah, but which metals? Any of the new metals perchance?
A living Hall Carter, with his timelines and versions somehow merged… and give us a view of the future.
We have the Darkstars. A '90s group of intergalactic policemen created by Michael Jan Friedman and Mike Collins. And in the comics, created and run by the Controllers, an offshoot of the Guardians of the Universe, to impose order. Explaining what was going on with the Guardians at the beginning of the series, and establishing the Controllers' planned Darkstar revival as reality.
We have a Dak Pantheon of Gods for the DC Universe to deal with. Old Gods. And Dark.
Atlantis has risen to the surface.
The current Flash war storyline emerges.
A book of the Dreaming is missing… and so is Dream, setting up the Sandman Universe line.
But what of Nightwing and the cut on his forehead? The Titans and Teen Titans and New Titans? And almost all of the Dark Judges Knights still around, aside from The Drowned?
Looks like there are Titans Specials to come…
And okay yes, it's a bit of a hand wave, But then at least it's a literal handwave. With a very big hand. And hey, if they are building a new Hall of Justice, they have to have the Superfriends, right?
I'm sure that will be 'Hear, Hear' for the collection… so what other impacts on the future of the DC Universe did you spy?
