DC Comics Cancels Captain Atom In September
It may be cancelled. But it is getting its zero issue. And no title could probably deserve it more.
Captain Atom has dodged the executioner's axe before, when it sold less than Hawk & Dove, but it was still Rob Liefeld's title that was cancelled. But it is gettine one month more than Justice League International and swelling the monthly title count to opver the magic 52.
But then it's done. Intriguingly, despite restrictions on time travel in the New DCU, Captain Atom has been able to travel along his own time stream back to his past. It is very possible that this may be a snake-eating-its-own-tail time travel story and a Zero issue may neatly wrap the whole comic with a bow of self causuality.
It may not have been my favourite of the DC books, but it was brave, tried something different and had staying power beyond its peers. Kudos. And I do look forward to rereading it as a complete thirteen issue run.
Here's the DC solicit that confirm the news.
