When Deathstroke Uses Religion As A Weapon

Christopher Priest has already written on Bleeding Cool about this week's Deathstroke #20 with Larry Hama and Carlo Pagulayan in an article that must have given DC PR representatives heart flutters, pitting Deathstroke against Jesus Christ.

It's not quite that of course, but it is a story that Priest would have struggled to tell at DC Comics a decade ago.

Because it's something that seems to relevant this week, after the Islamist terrorist attack on London Bridge at the weekend, and the foiling of a bomb plot by a new IRA and the seizing of explosives.

The idea of weaponising religion. With Deathstroke talking about being reformed, but in reality just using other weapons in his arsenal other than guns to get what he wants.

Scriptural verses as effective as any bullet.

This is also, of course, a set up for what else is to come. Adding a whole new litany of weapons to his armoury. Ones that walk and talk but do his bidding as easily as any gun.

You just need to know which triggers to push.

Deathstroke #20 is published today by DC Comics.
