Dynamite News – Chaykin On The Shadow, Deja Thoris Solo, Chaos Comics Returns And New Pathfinder
Dynamite Entertainment made a series of big announcements today ranging from Howard Chaykin on The Shadow to the return of Pathfinder.
It starts off with Dejah Thoris getting her own series spinning out of the Warlord Of Mars 100th issue. Dejah of Mars is written by Mark Rahner, drawn by Jethro Morales, with covers by Jay Anacleto, Fabiano Neves and Mel Rubi!
In Dejah of Mars #1, John Carter has gone missing. And to find him there's nothing Dejah Thoris won't break. No one she won't hurt. No hornet's nest she won't kick. But the Warlord of Mars stole an important Helium artifact before he disappeared, so not only is the princess on her own this time – she has to get Carter before anyone else does!
"John Carter has rescued Dejah Thoris countless times, and now it's her turn to rescue him," says writer Mark Rahner. "After everything she's been through – getting kidnapped by Tharks who wanted her for meat, outwitting a terrorist who aimed to ruin the peace, surviving a suicide mission among Warhoons – Dejah Thoris isn't screwing around. She's going to find Carter and make whoever took him pay. And Issus help whoever gets in her way."
Then we move over to the evil that lurks in the hearts of men… as Howard Chaykin returns to the Shadow with a new six-part series starting in May called The Shadow: Midnight In Moscow.
In The Shadow: Midnight in Moscow #1, New Year's, 1950–the end of a tumultuous decade…and Lamont Cranston, the man the world and the underworld know all too well as The Shadow, has had enough. It's time for the Mysterious Nemesis of Crime to hang up his cloak, his slouch hat, and his twin .45s, and retire from public life. But despite this momentous decision, Margo Laine and the rest of the Shadow's Agents fear that mankind, teetering on the brink of nuclear Armageddon, may not be quite ready to be bereft of the Dark Avenger.
"It's an honor to have another opportunity to write and illustrate an adventure featuring this iconic character," says the legendary writer/artist Howard Chaykin. "The Shadow features a colorful cast, and a milieu steeped in nourish pulp-or is that pulpy noir?"
And then we got word that Chaos! Comics is back as a six part mini-series written by Tim Seeley and art by Mirka Andolfo. Reuniting Evil Ernie, Purgatori, Chastity, and more in the Chaos! Comics 20th Anniversary revival. Dynamite will offer several cover editions to commemorate the event, including artwork by J. Scott Campbell, Tim Seeley, Emanuela Lupacchino, Charlie Adlard, Carlos Rafael, Ken Haeser, and Michael Turner.
In the upcoming miniseries, several terrifying figures – including the undead Evil Ernie, goddess Purgatori, vampire Chastity, and supernatural band of misfits known as The Omen – individually witness visions of the world's impending doom, and rush headlong into conflict. Some try desperately to avert the nuclear holocaust, out of altruism or self-interest, while others just want to raise some hell. So begins the return of the Chaos! universe on an epic scale, the resurrection of fan-favorite boogeymen and femme fatales amidst a violent, apocalyptic upheaval.
And last but certainly not least, the role playing game Pathfinder is coming back with a new series, Pathfinder: City Of Secrets written by Jim Zub, with interior art by Leandro Oliveira and cover art by Genzoman, Carlos Gomez, Sean Izaakse and Steven Cummings.
In Pathfinder: City of Secrets #1, the Pathfinder heroes head to the city of Magnimar, and danger isn't far behind. As the wizard Ezren seeks an audience with the Pathfinder Society, his adventuring allies explore the city's ancient magic, well-hidden secrets, and deep political divides. The dangers and opportunities of the big city could bring the adventurers closer together-or tear them apart!
"Writing Pathfinder has been a wonderful experience," says writer Jim Zub. "The gang at Paizo have crafted a robust and diverse fantasy world that lends itself to dramatic and exciting stories. I can't wait for readers to dive into City of Secrets and see what happens next to the Pathfinder iconic characters."
So as you can see, Dynamite has quite a bit of stuff planned for May and their 10th Anniversary.
